Those of us born in January 1980, when Jimmy Carter was still president, are not millenials. We graduated high school in the 20th Century. We lived a “We Didn’t Start the Fire” verse. We used pay-phones to ask for curfew extensions. Our younger siblings are millenials. https://twitter.com/KevinWGlass/status/1147936010514391045 …

Web access a good measure. I was ‘86 so childhood was internet-free for most part (dial-up from late 90s)+got first phone in 2002. I feel that experiencing that turning point in high school makes mid-80s kids the earliest proper millennials. And yet I still can’t use Snapchat.

I’m January 1980 too and I say in a Millennial, mostly because it seemed more appealing than Gen-x. Really there’s no hard and fast date, I’ve seen 1980-1982 as the cutoff. Actually, we’re “x-entails”.

I've always thought of the ones born just after the Gen-X (IMHO those born between 1965 to 1983) were Gen-Y (born 1980s to just before 2001 when a lot of things changed/went sour). 2000 is the cutoff point for Millennial babies, 2020 will make them 20 yrs old.
