You know religion is fucked when you have an apologist explaining how pedophilia is A OK... Cause reasons, in the Koran. Stone to death unruly children, CAUSE MAH Bible! This proves that "holy" books should never dictate how morals are taught and formed.

Despicable views at odds with each other; a belief system which says "do what you want.......if you're a male!" Simply vile. Don't ever think it's different. This is the 'heart' of a major problem. UK equality laws MUST be reaffirmed over religious privilege. For all our sakes.

To be fair, if the whole Koran could be tawhidi-ed then you’d end up with a much healthier foundation for Moslems worldwide to work from. I’ve got a lot of time for him, if nothing else he knows his stuff and his heart’s in the right place.

The best part of these arguments is the implication that God has evolving morals

It's horrible to think of but it was medieval times. Girls were quite often married off very young in all cultures. The difference is we now accept it as wrong. Some medieval Islamists still think it's ok. This is the problem.

It certainly would be wrong (unacceptable) today, but not in those days.
-
In “those” days it was acceptable (in the eyes of men) for other men to marry and have sex with girls who had “come of age” (ie were physically mature enough to reproduce) disregarding mental maturity (NB at 9yo Aisha was neither!) Women/girls had no say - wrong in any era.
-
"Wrong in any erra" suggests objective morality.
-
Well I’m not sure if objective morality exists. But if it does, surely having sex with pre-pubescent girls might just be an area in which it can be considered?
-
If it's morally wrong across cultures and time, then that would be objectively wrong...hence objective morality.
-
Well, ok then. Fine. I’m certain that I consider it wrong. And I’m comfortable with my certainty. However, I’m confused about your standpoint. Could you clarify?
-
I think it's circumstantial. If you ask should that custom be acceptable today, I would say no. Was it acceptable then? Obviously yes. So question should be: what was the circumstance?

Did he really have sex with a 9 year old girl? It is history and history is subjective based on sayings when it comes to people’s lives. There are so many invented ahadiths to suit the needs of bloody ideologies
-
The hdiths about ashia are as legitimate as those other hadiths that people justify to talk about Muhammed good ways and good life and good words. One can't pick and choose to change history as one wants to.
-
No! So much has been added or altered.

There will always be men that emulate the actions of their prophet and that means that - paedophilia; terrorism; stoning; kil@&ng of gays and unbelievers; slavery and the list goes on, will continue until Islam is abandoned.
