Drone landing at Snettisham, southeast Alaska after gusty winds! Luckily we had our lidar equipment as back-up that we instead flew with a helicopter. Our mission to map snow depth in a few avalanche paths that endanger the power transmission line.

The modeled 84 hour snow accumulation for Oregon looks, um, comprehensive. Where WON'T there be snow? Glad to see and Willamette Pass Ski Area get a boost.

❄️ Fairbanks, AK. @neddyrozell wrote about the physics of 40 below: “The dry snow is cold enough to prevent skis from gliding. The air is so cold it robs the interface between ski and snow of heat produced by friction that creates melt water on which to glide in warm temps.”

  18. At San Francisco airport we get reminded about the critical water situation in California. By improving water runoff models, water resource managers can make a better job at regulating the output from water towers to minimize water waste. Contribute by participating in CSO!
