Only surprising thing about the idiotic “recall Boudin” effort is that his haters from Day 1 waited a whole year. Their campaign is just a reaction to @chesaboudin commitment to dismantling racist practices & making our legal system more fairhttps://www.sfexaminer.com/news/chesa-boudin-responds-to-critics-in-first-state-of-justice-address/ …

Replying to @DeanPreston @chesaboudin
1/I study the data but disagree with the premise of many tweets against Boudin--that the DA's current policies are driving crime instead of the root causes, which I would list but it wouldn't matter to the anti-Boudin people here.

Thank you G Love. This is why office also believes we need to stop prosecuting rapists and murderers. We must instead look at the root causes and ask ourselves: what makes good people commit rape and murder? Then we give the rapists and murderers gift cards and let the go!

1/The DA's office is not NOT prosecuting rapes & murders. Where are you getting your info? Addressing root causes of crime, coupled with reasonable sentencing & true rehabilitation practices--that's the answer. Look at Norway, Portugal & Germany even (in terms of sentence length)

Exactly! But the logic is exactly the same: by focusing criminal justice on punishment of rapists and murderers, we are not addressing the *root causes* of rape and murder. We need to stop focusing on incarceration and instead treat the root causes... of ALL crimes.

This is very confusing. I think you should change your photo & name. It's not decent parody. I don't even know what you think & I don't think this is a topic to joke about.

You want to decarcerate burglars and drug dealers because ‘root causes’ are to blame, and I’m challenging you: why stop there? Are there not *root causes* that motivate rape and murder? If you don’t know that to think, that’s just awareness of your own cognitive dissonance.

Again, I personally do not want to "decarcerate" every crime, nor is that the DA's plan, as mentioned above. You are conflating ideas--abolitionist and reformist.
