Transparent engagement with our community is essential. That's why in 2020 we launched 10 community advisory boards, launched @ChasingPodcast, started hosting monthly townhalls and weekly Facebook live discussions, and I personally attended hundreds of community events.

Can you be transparent now and tell the community what reforms you are putting in place in the wake of Hana Abe's and Elizabeth Pratt's homicides?

This would have happened even with “safe streets”. It’s a shame you use this murder to promote this. He was on drugs, and drunk driving. No “safe streets” would have stopped him.

Shame to deliberately confuse a traffic incident as justification for continuing historic and unprecedented mass incarceration.

Paul, then why is Boudin prosecuting McAlister over these deaths? I don't believe McAlister wanted these people to die, or even get hurt. He was just doing the same kind of drug/burglary/stolen car thing he's been doing ever since Boudin let him out last April.

If any of us got intoxicated and run someone over we too would face charges. Seems like that's what's happening here.

Violence is what it should require to receive incarceration from our society. We wasn't violent before, this was violence and now he's incarcerated. But I do wish the road infrastructure did a better job of separating this poor driver and pedestrians.

And by “violence” we mean you need to have been implicated in the murder of at least FOUR people. Anything less than that isn’t really violent, which is why my dad should be released from prison.
