Technically using x86 protected mode segmentation you could apply protections to a byte level (by not setting the G bit in the GDT entries). But it's not available in 64-bit and it's so limited in the number of buffers anyways that it would be pointless.

Also you would need to somehow use the right descriptor for the right buffer... or use the same descriptor for all and TSX abort or something to try again with a different segment. It'd be funny but useless
