It can be useful when pointing to services outside of AWS. The way CloudFlare does it seems to be presenting A record by internally resolving the CNAME value on the server. Never seen information on issues with it, so any more details would be appreciated.

They do specifically this no? Just internally transform to A. So I don't see any issues.
