What's the issue in your case? Citizenship is granted after you've been permanent resident (had green card) for 5 years, that seems reasonable. Employer sponsored green cards take usually 1-2 years (with exceptions for countries with large immigrant representation).

I came on a H1B, but hadn't had my degree long enough to qualify for EB1, so was in the EB2 Green card queue, which took a while.

My theory is there isn't a large incentive to make the queue shorter to naturalization. While waiting, non-americans are paying taxes, working, and need to live in USA most of the year => have a house. All risks of being kicked out is on the person.
