The four Dublin local authorities need to do the same thing, as part of a plan for the city to house 2 million people, four times the current level, in 30-50 years time. https://twitter.com/ByRosenberg/status/928731035176550400 …

I live in Fremont, Seattle - 3 miles from city center and one of the areas being up zoned. Here the density is one detatched house per 4,000sqft lot, very low. I grew up in Ballyfermot, a bit further from city center, where there'd be 3 of my parent's houses in a similar space.

Mostly. But multi-family is replacing with the new zoning. There are strips and blocks of apartments on the arterials too, and only small parks/green-space, those mean that the density of Fremont is about 4.9k/km², vs about 3k/km² for Ballyfermot.

Basically, in Ballyfermot we had a small house in a row of same, but big generous play fields and parks maintained by the corporation. Here the houses are apart and much bigger, no park area, and then thousands of small apartments are dotted on the main roads.
