The four Dublin local authorities need to do the same thing, as part of a plan for the city to house 2 million people, four times the current level, in 30-50 years time. https://twitter.com/ByRosenberg/status/928731035176550400 …
I live in Fremont, Seattle - 3 miles from city center and one of the areas being up zoned. Here the density is one detatched house per 4,000sqft lot, very low. I grew up in Ballyfermot, a bit further from city center, where there'd be 3 of my parent's houses in a similar space.

They are all one-family houses?

Mostly. But multi-family is replacing with the new zoning. There are strips and blocks of apartments on the arterials too, and only small parks/green-space, those mean that the density of Fremont is about 4.9k/km², vs about 3k/km² for Ballyfermot.
