another thing I wonder about Irish: the consonant mutations are incomplete – C can become Ch or gC, M can only become Mh, L never changes…

e.g. ‘cat’ (cat) encodes more grammatical meaning than ‘lampa’ (lamp). is something lost there? if not, do we need mutation at all?

@inky Irish is now a very interesting case since all speakers can be assumed to speak English - so mixed mode grammar can happen
