I'll take any improvement, but personally I think there should be a steady and managed transition back to global open borders. Beyond the humanitarian benefit, it would be one of the best things we could do for peace, economic growth, and wealth creation. Obviously a fantasy :)

Yes! Borders are violence! Borders are wrong! Infuriating that Paul Graham takes as a given that “competent” US workers should have the right to go work abroad. Workers in poorer countries should have that right! Without limits!

Of course you'd require them to completely self-isolate for a prescribed amount of time, get tested and get results the day you are to get on a plane (with PPE), then probably isolate&test again in the destination country before going to work. If said countries had tests and PPE.
