When you say short
's you mean really short
's with less than 100 bits of entropy (256 bits for long term predictions). For anything longer than that go with option 1.
And of course any short

Anything short enough that someone might reasonably crack it through guesswork-guided brute-force. If you're known for sports predictions, or commenting on a particular situation. Hashing your phone number as proof of ownership would also be dumb. That kind of thing :)
