So dumb question. But this is my first election as a US citizen. Aren’t the democrats better off focusing on control of the house and senate vs the presidency? What’s a dem president going to get done without the other two branches on board?

Turnout in presidential election years is much greater than off-year elections. Boosting a presidential candidate rarely hurts because it brings out voters who tend to help that party’s candidates “down the board”.

That works two ways though; if you boost, volunteer, or donate to house candidates in swing states or strategic senate states, you can be more confident that your effort is boosting turnout where it matters.
