I asked if it is normal for dealer to refuse to sell a car if you don’t provide your SSN, after hearing this from a couple of Chicagoland @audi dealers. I bought a car from @AudiDesMoines w/ a cashier’s check + license (for test drive). Not asked for SSN once. Nice XP all around.

Buying a car from a dealership with a cashier’s check is explicitly given as an example of where you DON’T need to report because it isn’t a cash transaction. However, I have a lot of people get confused by this.
