Playing a lot as an accompanist! and playing with other accompanists and having to be in sync. That and just learning a lot of pieces through trial and error.

I started learning Japanese in my 30s and have a pretty decent level of fluency. What our takes is a willingness to put in the hours. I’m convinced that most adults simply lack the time, motivation, or both.
