Wait...at one point you knew two women named Danese?

Yep! Don't worry Danese, this isn't the afterlife. No matter how bad it seems.

It really is. We need to better support our exhausted and underpaid nurses though.

In SPAIN when you really need a complex treatment or you are a chronic patient you go to the public health services. They are highly superior than any other private service. No other service has the same capability than public services.

I'm sorry for your loss. This is one of the many untenable things about our culture. Most Americans live in a constant state of low level panic about what would happen to them if they lost their jobs and coverage, what would happen if they had no coverage at all.

It explains the way we act, what we find important, our cultural inertia. It's an oft-beaten one but it is the truth that a scenario like Breaking Bad would never even have begun in another place.

No health care system is perfect but I’m happy to be in a system that triages based on need alone instead need + funds. We used to have the latter in Canada, plus the same arguments Americans hear against socialized medicine, but we got lucky.

My mom had a cancer scare a few years ago and even with good insurance it took her 6 months to get in to see a specialist on the suspected disease. Folks wanna talk about “rationing” without ever admitting that we have our own form of rationing in our current system.
-
And that rationing is often based on who can afford what and lives where which is the ultimate case of a fucked up system.
