2nd: a big difference between jerks that can be rehabilitated and not is whether their behavior actually comes from a place of humility or not. Often impatient frustration comes from an inability to understand why others "don't get it" and can't see what seems obvious to them.

Listen for that; because that tells you that they actually have humility, and what needs to cultivated is patience and understanding that others aren't as talented or experienced. If instead, you hear sociopathy and indifference, manage out with urgency.

It can also be more effective to deliver the message that "You need to understand that you are more talented than others in this respect. They have other strengths you lack. You need to accept both sides of that."

Delivering verbal face punches with love is hard to do (which is why I guess it's rare that people do). I found Kim Scott's Radical Candor (https://youtu.be/4yODalLQ2lM ) useful, though I'm still working on it.
