Any cryptography experts out there? Is there a password hashing scheme like pbkdf where the count of iterations can be grown without knowing the plaintext password?
You can double-hash the password. E.g. you take the original weak hash, and use that as the input for the stronger one (ideally with a random salt). Then on login, you weak-hash their password input, and then strong-hash the result. Works great.
