I’d encourage the sharing of the actual details of incident analysis at Amazon, then. The “5 Whys”, in the end, is a method (however implemented) to collect data. We can debate the common/unique implementations of methods...

...but without the details of what data is gathered and how it’s analyzed, these debates are unhelpful at best. I keep hearing Amazon doesn’t perform these analyses in the skeletal/linear “5W” way...great! Now show me what you actually do, then.

I’m interested in seeing such a talk. It’s interesting how Google published their SRE approach to much fanfare, resulting in cargo culting of the whole thing. The Operational Excellence guide in Well Architected covers very few human factors in detail.
