I think it's been underreported to what extent podcasting (known as audioblogging for the first uneventful 5 years of its life) is an artifact of an advertising bubble. You'll also still see vanity casters, people with a regular job who just podcast out of a hobby sense. They won't be able to easily monetize that hobby, but maybe that is a good thing? Making your hobby a job can lead down some bad roads.
