Convince might be an alternative word, but I really do mean argue. Confrontation and conflict are good when done with respect and listening, and wielded constructively to form closer bonds, and not divisively. More fun meetings too.

Ya, but the biggest problem I have seen is people taking things personally. So focusing on ideas > people. Agree the best meetings expect this.

Agree RE healthy conflict, but "convince" sounds a bit zero-sum to me... If the end-state/outcome you seek is simply to convince others your idea is correct then it feels like strong opinions, strongly held
