After years of liking my QC35s, I bought a pair of Bose 700 noise canceling headphones on spec. 24 hours in, I do think they are better, and IMO they are the best coding and plane headphones! 1. The noise cancelling is even more isolating. Sitting at my desk, these 700s basically lock out the outside world. Noticeably stronger than the QC35 II, which were the best I could find before.

2. The controls are nice. I can temporarily quieten to hear someone speak. There's a touch sensor for play controls. Works great and doesn't accidentally pause play like the B&O headphones I've tried.

3. The sound response is very even. I tried them on the mastering station in my recording studio this morning and I had no trouble EQing low or high ends and hearing compression settings I was messing with.

4. Charges from USB-C now, which is a plug for me and one fewer cable to carry! Still won't let me listen while charging though, which is a bummer on long plane journeys.

5. The 700s don't fold, unlike the 25s and 35s, so they take up a little more space, but so far it's no problem.

6. The vocal microphones seem improved too. I used them to record some scratch vocals and they sounded surprisingly natural. Reminded me of DPA studio mics.

7. When you turn them on, it tells you how many hours of battery are left, not percentage. This is a great change, much more human friendly.

Overall: 4.5 stars. Best noise cancelling I've heard yet. Great sound. Excellent controls. Just wish I could charge and listen at the same time.

Replying to @colmmacc
They look a bit flimsy on the photo. Are they? What material is the headband made of?

They don't feel flimsy at all. I'm not going to try sitting on them, but they feel like they could take it. The headband is some kind of machined metal and an expensive feeling cushion.
