In spite of how they are described, there's usually no difference between principal components analysis and exploratory factor analysis.

This isn't an application I'm familiar with in Psychology. But it sounds there's a more reasonable basis there for assuming no measurement error in the components/factors, right? In my field, we assume everything is measured with error so we like to hedge our bets, I think
