I'd love to see simply a blog post that describes the problem and the proposed solution, so that we can first evaluate whether the cure is worse than the disease. Nobody is using ASN.1 for anything new, and it seems unlikely that a new format for existing things is a net win.

So far, the best write-up of real problems with parsing X.509 I've seen is https://arxiv.org/abs/1812.04959 , and the problems are solvable with a simple profile of X.509 following their recommendations to make X.509 context-free. E.g., require OID-tagged structures appear in sorted order.
