If you're in Seattle, @acvisneski has this great thread on why you shouldn't have come to work today. https://twitter.com/acvisneski/status/1092453048071286785 … it is
. But this thread is for people who, like me, came in anyway ...
it's not too terrible out there. Downtown the roads are slushy and there's very little ice. I came from Fremont, where there's definitely a layer of black ice on the pavements and the roads aren't great. But if you have AWD, and stay below 15MPH, you can make it to an arterial.

best footwear is duck-boots if you have them, like an east-coaster! next best is water proof hiking boots. Sorry if you're walking around in trainers like a fool. I hope you have extra socks in your desk drawer.pic.twitter.com/kO9faHvPim

The real problem though is the bitter cold wind. Don't wear jeans like me. Do wear gloves and a hat. It is COLD. Especially on an East-West street. Less bad on the avenues IME.

Best thing though is that a hot chocolate tastes ten times as good in this weather, and most meetings are cancelled. Hard to beat that!

That’s exactly it. Major roads are fine, but neighborhood roads in Ballard and Loyal Heights are an icy mess. And just because you drive a Subaru you’re not above the laws of physics!
