Great talk @mattblaze ! is voter secrecy over-rated in 2019? Washington and Oregon have all mail-in ballots now, which makes voter coercion and vote-selling very feasible, but the trade-off hardly comes up and doesn't seem to compromise the sense of democratic legitimacy.

Obviously publishing everybody's vote publicly would be terrible, and maybe even lead to mass violence, but can secrecy be compromised at smaller levels for the sake of more verifiable solutions?

I think historical context is important. This seems to work fine in WA where we live, but we grew up in Ireland learning about voter coercion of this nature so it would be harder to get accepted there.

You're right, of course, but Ireland has an all-postal ballot for Senate too. But nobody cares about the Senate ;-)
