Every 5 years or so I look around and try to pick an area to work on, and then commit and persist. 10 years ago it was to build our edge: CloudFront, Route 53, and anti-DDOS. 5 years ago I moved to ELB and ended up building VPC Networking, HyperPlane, TLS, Cryptograpy and more ..

Time for another look around! I have some ideas myself already, mostly crazy, I'm curious about thoughts and suggestions from folks here.

I would like refinement and better ux for a lot of services before requesting new services
-
This. So much this. The problem with AWS is not a *lack* of services, it's *competing* services, throwing services against the wall to see what sticks, age-old holes in the existing services that are "planned" to be fixed, inconsistent UX, and terrible docs.

Egress filtering on fqdn, like the Azure Firewall. Essential for PCI compliancy.
-
Yeah actually this would make life so much easier. And static IPs for ALB without the NBL/Lambda/whatever stuffing around.

True serverless, pay-as-you-go mapreduce. No managing clusters, no paying when you don't have a job running, nice console similar to Lambda. I tweeted
@rahulpathak about this a couple of weeks ago and still owe him an email with more details on what I'm looking for... -
I you can convince
@colmmacc to come work on my teams for 5 years, I’ll give you this and a pony ;) - 1 more reply
