Good luck! Love that city. Still probably moving back someday.

Have you considered a house boat?

THEY SURE DO. Not impossible to rent, if you have a little persistence and some patience.

Seriously, come out kayaking, I'll give you a tour and you can see for yourself. There's no wake zones, they're pretty serene. They don't rock that much, and you get used to it.

Where do you rent kayaks for Lake Union? I've kayaked Union Bay but they told us not to go through the Cut.

I have my own touring kayaks, and racks for my car. I go out pretty often. Was out there this morning in fact! Gorgeous in the crisp cold. The cut is nuts with boat traffic, but this time of year it's fine.

I remember trying to shoot the gap between the bigger boats to explore under the 520 bridge. Keep meaning to get back out there. Peaceful retreat that is relatively close.

I always have a marine band radio with me, and if I'm going through the cut or on Portage Bay or Lake Washington in the summer, I'll bring an air horn. Radio works like a charm though, just coordinate a tail with a bigger boat, like they're a tug pilot. Never been turned down.
