It’s in crisis sure as hell, but I do not think for this reason. There’s different ways of defining how a democracy is structured. For example, at one time, the French had the distinction of “active” and “passive” citizens; it was still dubbed a democracy.

Another example, citizens don’t vote on every law, our representatives do. It’s not suddenly not a democracy just because it’s not Aristotle’s definition of an absolute democracy. I think the electoral college is a bad idea, but I don’t think it’s our democracy’s ultimate problem
