    WTO deliberations are rarely a life or death issue but this sure seems one! This fantastic Ann Danaiya Usher piece in the Lancet lays out the internal dynamics really well

    Rich countries say voluntary licensing and COVAX should be enough to bridge the gap for poor countries. But now COVAX has gone to shit that argument doesn't hold as much water.

    The WTO is to discuss today a plan put forward by India and South Africa to waive intellectual property rights on covid vaccines to help poorer countries access them. and are backing the measure, as is China. Rich countries are against it.
