I was just asked by an academic journal to review a "study" on homeopathy. My response attached. Ridiculous that a journal would take seriously. CC @EdzardErnst @DrJenGunter @drlabos @McGillOSS @crackedscience @NightShiftMD @NaturoDiaries @picardonhealth @carlyweekspic.twitter.com/NikIDOdTAx

As long as academics refuse to see people’s desire for a nature based fusion of traditional methods of mind body health & western medicine - & offer a science based approach, you are doing a disservice to medicine & its pursuit to heal. Take the ego out

Homeopathy is a scam. This is not ego. It is science.

Missing the actual point. Does the average person want alternative to big pharma or at least a consideration of a lifestyle based aproach? Yes. But the arrogance of western medicine has always shamed & discounted ways used for generations in favour of its “superiority”

💯 🙌. Neither "western medicine" (conventional?) nor science have answers for chronic diseases, more focused on treatment. Lots to learn from Integrative approaches, would be much more productive than the debunking. Agree a disservice. Not focused on patient or health.

That’s why they’re called chronic. If we could fix it we would.

Homeopathy is neither traditional (science based medicine is *as* old) nor natural.

P.s. if you surveyed patients, 100% of them would prefer not to be sick at all. Sadly that’s not how things work.

Nothing wrong, wanting a natural approach to well-being. But throwing 'natural' in front of something does not give it a pass. Effectiveness must be demonstrated. The objection is specifically to the snake oil charlatanism of homeopathy that takes advantage of the disadvantaged.

I get the problems in this debate. But didn't 'science' dismiss acupuncture not long ago? Homosexuality considered a mental illness? Leeches? So maybe naturopathy is the line in the sand, but the desires of people to be healthy should leave nothing unexamined. You owe it to us.

Homeopathy is not a form of medicine; it is a form of fraud. It's also only about 200 years old, originated in Germany, and has the dubious distinction of making claims that explicitly violate both the first and second laws of thermodynamics.

If the homeopathy's claims about the 'law of dilutions' were true, you could use it to build a perpetual motion machine.
