What matters is that he is best trying to represent the voice of the people Apu represents. I've always felt The Simpsons was a depiction of culture and not a thing to hurt people.

Homer is one of MANY white people. White Americans are also represented by Lisa, Marge and a whole host of other white characters. There is exactly ONE Indian character, and he is a gross stereotype. The issue is that Apu is the sole representative.
