wyd. Being gay or trans is something very likely developmental from an extremely early stage of development. Not muh genes. It's society that's changing so you see these people more comfortable coming out and discussing it. Abuse and depression have always existed, sadly.

The way it came off was very different. And understandably really hurt my friend's feelings. If he wanted to be careful or make a distinction he should've done so. He can speak for himself.

Trans and queer people already have huge swaths of society & reactionary movements telling them they're mentally ill or products of abuse. In huge majority of cases this is not why they are the way they are.

So there is some evidence of heritability in sexual orientation. We don't know much. But it's more complicated than genetics (presence of hormones,etc.), people w/o kids are still beneficial to group survival, & it's reductive, irresponsible, and inhumane to make claims of abuse.
