    Aerial tankers (VLAT) are unbelievably effective frontline fire suppressors and a waterbombing run was often a key factor in whether a person's homes would survive the end of the day. One of the most important decisions a RFS incident controller makes is where these planes go.

    RE: The Bushfire Royal Commission recommendations. I understand the logic behind this, but it's just not practical to rely on international partners for reinforcements. It used to be the case when our bushfires didn't align with US/Canada, but our fire seasons will overlap soon.
