I don't like small talk. I like real connections. So I often "do questions" where everyone answers a question on the table. Meaningful discussions tend to follow. It can be a struggle to think of questions though. So I made a website to help with that :)

We continue translating important ACL 2020 PC Blogs into Chinese for letting more people know what's changing this year. Here is the latest blog about author/reviewer profiles (in Chinese):

“We had a record number of over 8,800 submissions this year. Of those, 7,737 were reviewed, and due to space limitations, we were only able to accept 1,591 papers, yielding an acceptance rate of 20.6%.” AAAI alone doesn't have 10k submissions (yet), but still, wow.

Huge congratulations to on winning Best Paper! (From 2800+ submissions.) And on her delightful talk: video online. Lisa did this work with me as a junior. First time any *ACL best paper award has gone to an undergrad project??

It's hiring and tenure season. I will be following—and advocating for—the CRA's memo on emphasizing quality over quantity. They recommend evaluating new PhDs on 1-2 top papers; tenure on 3-5 papers.
