I find myself having a hard time maintaining eye contact, especially since it's programmed and forced through years of training. I get the feeling I come off a littel rapey at a time, because of how hard I focus on looking into people's eyes.

It's difficult. I don't know how long I'm supposed to maintain eye contact. I don't want them to feel like I'm staring them down. Too much to think about. This is why I prefer to stay at home alone.

After being accused by a fellow student of giving the "evil eye" in high school because I kept eye contact a second too long, I gave up trying to talk to anyone but an adult for a long time.

Yeah! Prolonged eye contact can be a sign of intimidation. How many seconds are we supposed to do it for!!!?!!!

The key is to practice your interested and concerned face. It doesn't become creepy if you seem genuinely interested. Also, like all things is society, there is a definite gender bias at work. Men probably induce creepy faster than women do.

That's true. Wow, Oafah, that is so interesting and concerning
.
All right I'm gonna try the staredown technique. I'll probably tremble and turn red but I'll do it for the sake of curiosity
