Why did it take them this long to expel Roman Polanski?

Because they didn't care until it became a politically correct thing to do.

The fact that it took nearly 50 years to expel a convicted rapist like Polanski goes to show what a farce the Academy is

You've known about Polański for more than 40 years. All of the sudden you care about human dignity. What about Woody Allen? Double standards?

Better late than never, I suppose, but Polanski was a known rapist all the way back to 1976, and rather than make him face up to his crime, AMPAS and their artists kept working with him and acted like his brilliance excused his behavior.

It took them long enough on polanski. It has been decades since he ran rather than face trial.

Another example of preferential treatment for blacks. Polanski had to wait half a century before being blacklisted. Cosby, on the other hand - straight to the front of the queue!

Judo teaches taught me to use, not resist, the natural flow of energy. When they push, you pull. When they pull, you push ...eventually, your opponent will overreach. ;)

It took the Academy 40 years to expel Roman Polanski, a convicted sex offender??? Surprising, yet unsurprising.
