I would like to add to the conversation that the fact that there was an armed a resource officer on school property did not deter this young man from entering the building with a handgun. The officer did not kill him either, he killed himself.

So that includes strict gun control laws?

I think what @MikeNordon was implying is, it won't deter you once you already have a gun. Making it harder for a mentally unstable person to get a gun would definitely deter someone.

Yes because criminals follow the laws especially gun control laws.

Let’s just legalize murder then because what’s the point? No, it’s about making it harder for people to carry out these atrocities. Nothing will stop them completely, but having less guns in the hands of the mentally unstable will certainly decrease them.

How was this kid mentallly unstable?

That seems to be the norm defense for whites committing these “atrocities”. No they just wanted to kill people. Evil yes, but mentally unstable? Give every murderer the insanity defense. “Sorry your honor, I was mentally ill. That’s why I killed all those people with a gun.”

Officer Blaine Gaskill deserves a medal. He also SWAT. According to CBS News article, the shooter put his gun to his head and Gaskill shot at the gun possibly setting it off or the shooter's reflexes pulled the trigger. Who knows, who cares Gaskill saved those kids!!

No, he didn't. The kid went in there with one goal in mind, which was the shoot the people he shot. This wasn't a mass shooting that was prevented. It was a successful act of domestic violence. The deputy did nothing.

What you mean he did nothing? Are we talking abt the same shooting in MD? Domestic violence? He had a gun in a school shot two innocent students and possibly more if Officer Gaskill didn't step to him. If the SRO in Parkland did his job we probably wouldn't have 17 dead there.

No, not "possibly more." He went in to shoot that girl and got the guy in, if I recall, by accident. All the stuff you're spewing is spin.

Spin? I read it on http://CBS.com . Where did u accidentally get your info? You tweeted that it was domestic violence, did they live together or were they married or related? NO! But regardless his motives he shot a school and was stopped? What's your problem with that?

He didn't shoot up a school. He stopped himself. Give credit where it's due.

The right wants to arm more people and protect the schools as much as possible. And that's it. So if a lunatic comes to a school and kills "less" that's okay? Shouldn't 1 death, or even 1 person harmed be too much? Does an armed guard or officer guarantee safety? No
