now is not the time to talk about unsafe harness systems. Why do we have to politicize this tragedy to push the pro harness agenda

5 white folks die in the east river the NTSB floats new harness regs, 30 thousand Americans die each year, year in year out from firearms not a single new law, AR-15's are easier to get than lawn darts, more Americans have died from guns in US than all the wars the US ever fought

This is how it should work. There was a tragedy, an investigation shows that changes to public safety rules would better protect innocent people and those changes are considered and implemented. Should always work this way.

Clearly legislating seatbelts is vastly more consequential than semi-automatic weapons so hopefully this legislation goes somewhere.

They need to release easily in an an emergency only if the emergency requires their release. If the emergency requires them to remain restrained it should be very hard to release. Easy, right?

That's not what "easy release" means...

Easy release, hard accidental release, no sacrifice of strength or safety...it's more complicated than you think. Everything you change adds liability.

A seatbelt in a car has an easy release but that doesn't mean it can't secure your body during impact. It seemed like you didn't understand that part. Also, what kind of helicopter crash would require the PAX to remain restrained in the harness? They need to evacuate ASAP.

We are talking about open door helicopters. 99.99999999999% of the time easy release is more dangerous than difficult release.

Gov behind safety facts again. Gov interventions and inadequate legislations are costing us lives out here. Congress and the Senate are an imminent danger to it's Citizens. Americans are responsible for sending absolutely incompetent Reps to DC. There for the Grace of God go we.

Pretty much every helicopter has the same harness with open doors. Really don’t want people falling out

Or just make the charter company teach guests how to use the seatbelts during an emergency. This is sad and preventable. Amended law doesn’t change what should be common sense practices
