So much hype and then this. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They'll never been foolproof. We as a society can't expect that. But if they reduce traffic deaths greatly it's still a success.
-
After the millions upon millions of miles piled up by these vehicles and only 1 death? Much, much better odds than the absurd number of vehicle fatalities all throughout the world. I don't understand why we wouldn't push this or want it. It's going to save lives, period.

This was as inevitable as the sunrise tomorrow!

Not really, self driving cars have only ever had crashes due to human error before this. If this wasn't also human error. Never heard of an incident where a human didn't crash into the car as opposed to the car doing the crashing.

But why remove ALL SD cars? So angry mob won't destroy it with the stones and sticks? Do we remove ALL the human driven cars after fatal incident? Why backpedaling instead evolving
@uber ? -
The difference is that every human driver is unique and will react differently whereas SD cars are all using the same flawed software. If it's flawed in one car, it's flawed in all of them.
-
How is the software flawed? For all we know the pedestrian could have been jaywalking.
-
Sounds like she was jaywalking which means she probably could have been killed by a human driver too. Just saying that the software wasn't ready for that pedestrian situation and it's installed in many cars making them all an issue until it's fixed. May never be fixable though.

I don't like self driving cars. I enjoy driving. Why should a robot drive me around then?
-
Exactly!!! That's the same logic I use when it comes to having a chauffeur. I mean buy a car spending heavy bucks and then let someone else drive it.

One love bro!
