So the Florida DOT missed a voice mail and people died. How's the Governor going to 'Splain this one?

Probably the same way he explained not getting back to the nursing home that tried repeatedly to get a hold of him during the hurricane, which resulted in 12 deaths. He just lied about it.

Or the numerous agencies that dismissed the threat of the Parkland shooter.

Voicemail not enough. You need to get ahold of someone and close down the project STAT!

Voicemail? Lol very bad business for something as crucial as bridges cracking

This tragedy could have been prevented, if they simply would have closed that area off. They knew since Tuesday that it wasn’t safe and it had cracked.

Money talks in the USA & lives don't matter. You have a huge infrastructure problem in the USA with many more bridges on the verge of collapse, & crumbling dangerous roads. But guess what that budget was slashed by guess who?

So Florida, by the time the Stoneman shooting victims finish suing you and the victims of the collapsed bridge finish suing you, maybe you won’t spend all your time sucking up to NRA and repugs. @marcorubio #rickscott

Everyone is busy trying to achieve artificial goals that are just not possible, chasing growth that is just not capable of happening at this rate of production. We need to de-risk, we need to give every employee time to do their job properly and their number one job: Safety. #WTF

But regulation that impacts corporate bottom lines, even if they keep the public from horrific avoidable death, is a bad thing in #TrumpsAmerica. I won't pretend to know what or who went wrong, be it design, construction, materials, or paying off inspectors, but something did.

Thanks for saying this. I wanted to say something similar. Those who do not study and apply good engineering practice and applied science are doomed to suffer their consequences, again and again.

Engineering, science, home and financial inspection are all fussy specialized regulations. Without these regulations people get sick or die.

Q: Why wasn't a contingency plan in place to close the road instantly, should ANY cracks or faults start appearing during the phase when the bridge's structural integrity was only partially incomplete? Leave a voicemail?!! Who signed off THAT Risk Assessment?
