They were not turned away. They came to the wrong room and were given information on where to go to meet with the Senate President. These are photos from the meeting.pic.twitter.com/dCQT1XCX3v

Hi Katie, this is the CNN reporter. I’m actually in the photo you tweeted, blue shirt to Sen. Bradley’s right. That meeting had been over 20 minutes when you told the boys it was appointment only. Still waiting on you to DM me.
-
I responded to you. 20 minutes after the meeting ended the Senate was in session and the President was presiding over the session.
-
That’s fine. I can certainly add that to the story, now that we agree he was not meeting with students when the boys dropped by.

Has there ever been a more tone deaf group of politicians than the current generation of Republicans?

In 3 years when most of these determined and engaged youth can vote, then they’ll have to listen!!

They were not turned away. The Senate President was meeting with a large group of students in another room. They were given the room number of the meeting. The President's Office was not large enough to hold the group, so we used a larger committee room.

Most def not what happened

I’m actually in the photo she tweeted. That meeting was over so...

So what? Why is this news?
-
Remember the Watergate era after the Pentagon Papers hit the press? Politicians who refused to meet with concerned constituents were voted out in record numbers. It's good to document these things in case this is another watershed moment.

IMO, this group does not fit into the category of “everybody else.” If someone very prominent comes to my door wanting to see me, I might treat them differently. Their prominence was not of their choosing.

Tell me with a straight face that Republicans keep to the same rules for big money donors like the NRA.

Which is illegal. Prosecutable for graft. The mayor of my town is currently in trial for just that reason, meeting with donors and giving them perks while blocking constituent access. Hope he goes down the river.
