Mercy? For a Nazi? I don't care how old he is, I doubt he showed any mercy when he could have. Let him spend his last days behind bars. Even that is too good for him.

Do you assume all nazis during ww2 were jew killing monsters? Most of them were simply soldiers following orders. And a bookkeeper doesn't sound very intese honestly.

Following orders is never an excuse. Even if Hitler commanded him himself, he is absolutely still responsible for his crimes.

The majority of the German populace had no idea what went on in those camps at first either neither a good portion of soldiers they thought the camps were simply a way of relocating them and even preparing to forcibly deport them.

That’s not exactly true. Maybe at the very beginning, but by the late 30s Germans knew. Millions saw the camps, columns of starving ppl send to slave labor every day…
