I work at Sam’s Club Pharmacy. I have no idea how we’re going to deal with people who had prescriptions at the stores that closed. It was unfair to customers and employees to close without notice.

Unfair? It should be illegal!

It all adds up: - Sam's Club laid off approx 11,025 employees today. If they are full-time employees making $11/ hour this = $252m - Walmart to give an average bonus of a $190 to each of their 1.4m US employees. This equates to $266m Basically the layoffs pay for the Bonuses

It's a cold world out there...but it's sickening to know that this probably went thru a committee of some sort and they STILL decided it was ok to close down dozens of stores without giving THOUSANDS of workers even a day's notice, let alone a week to idk...find a new job?? Wow

In other news: 1 in 3 Jobs will be done by a robot or software by 2025 and Medicare recipients need to find jobs
-
In other words, people need to learn new skills or trades
... Either keep up or fall behind is the harsh reality -
Compassion...technology has none.

It's a business decision. STHU
-
Not giving your employees notice is a "business decision" too? Crappy business acumen, if you ask me. Put yourself in the employees' shoes.
-
Take your Bonus, and severence pay and go find a new job, Maybe Sears, Kmart, or Target is hiring..
-
Sams is giving hourly employees a bonus or severance? Really? Color me surprised
-
Right? No notice, but severance pay. The logic escapes me.
