At
#SanFrancisco State I took a class in earthquakes. It was a science elective. One thing I never forgot was learning that in NorCal#earthquake release pressure whereas in SoCal pressure builds. This was early 90s so not sure if science has held up

Have you ever been sitting at home or your office and a big truck goes rumbling by, shaking the table or windows? That is a typical earthquake. Californians are used to 4.5 earthquakes. Non news.

Just because you are use to it doesn’t mean it’s not news , particularly for those of us on east coast with family in SF.
