Things don’t rot out to that extent over night. State inspectors, along with the Fair owners of the ride, should be held accountable.

And it just passed inspection!?! Someone is very responsible for this tragedy.

Several 'someones', I say. There were multiple inspectors who signed off on that ride the very morning of this event.

Tragic.I don't trust those random rides. If it isn't 6Flags or Disney (read: more regular maintenance), I ain't ridin'. #StateFair #lawsuit

If anyone cared to read the article - it rotted from inside the beam and without ultrasound testing a visual inspection would miss it.

Ride broke off at the bottom of the swing, which is where positive G-forces are highest - which could "in theory" break that failing beam.

"Excessive corrosion" sounds like something that could be seen with the human eye during a simple inspection

that implies a lack of review and cleaning.. if elbow grease had been applied against that corrosion, there might be no dead..

We live in a country where profit out ranks all else. Look around, think. Nothing is what it appears. Or worth what it costs.
