this is nothing unusual. Most likely, everything will go as planned, and they can defuse the bomb, without having to let it explode.
-
I thought maybe they will have to explode the bomb, and 50 000 people are a lot of people
-
there is a way to defuse the bomb, by removing an important part. Only if that part is rusted, or not functioning, they have to explode it.
-
Or the guy who is trying to defuse the bomb makes a mistake. If one of those 2 things happens, they have to explode it. If this part is ...
-
…removed, the bomb is safe and can be transported out of the area ;-)

why are they just discovering it now?
-
because the bombs were underground and they probably discovered them while doing construction work. ;)
-
wow... that part of Germany is lucky that it didn't explode by accident....
-
this rarely happens. There are tens of thousands of bombs lying around over here. Maybe I´m sitting above one right now, I don´t know.
-
But these kinds of evacuations happen multiple times every week across Germany, the only thing abnormal here, is the scale (50000 people) :)

If you get hurt or die from one of these do they add you to the list of WWII casualties?
-
My great uncle's ship hit a mine in late 1919 and his grave is registered with the Great War war graves. Just saying
-
as it should be
