Totally irrelevent. A policy like that is common sense. The issue is how it was handled on the plane. They missed the point.

What's wrong with making staff Standing Room only and putting them to work with the other flight attendants in the meantime

So when they have takeoff and landing or turbulence it's stand at their own risk?! Employees should be safe too! Good lord!

That should have already been in place. The crew should have priority seating reserved and the tickets sold should be less the crew number.
