I believe in humanitarian aid but it has to be with some limits. In a time when elderly Americans are sleeping in the street because there is a years long waiting list for affordable housing and we have homeless veterans, we can't take in an unlimited amount of people.

While I totally agree with the idea of immigration, the idea of letting anyone in just because of their countries' problems is asinine. Where does it end? How many hundreds of millions of people around the world are in the same situation?
-
I think if we or other country wants to help they should do something with that government instead of taking them in because it's not going to end. Remove those people in the government who are corrupt. They are the main reason why these people are suffering.
-
I’m sorry but we can’t even remove the corrupt people in charge in our own country, never mind someone else’s.
-
True. But, when one really wants to do something, there's always a way.

Coming over here to cut into our already stressed social system. Heading straight to the food stamp office and assisted housing. Oh, and healthcare. Send them back!
-
Don’t be ignorant, Lola. They’re coming for a *chance* for a hearing in front of a judge for asylum. Not heading “straight for food stamps”. Sigh!
-
If they come seeking asylum they will get free money, food and housing that they have not earned!

There is a family that is from Afghanistan that lives in public housing that has 5 cars. Husband is a cab driver, wife doesn’t work and they have 5 kids.

I hear they were offered high paying union jobs making t-shirts. Retirement benefits, stock options, etc. Good for them.
-
So you think is good for them how
-
Are you serious? If true any job where you can get paid consistently and even have benefits in that kind of country is fantastic. I'm from the Dominican republic and know many people that would be happy with a job like that

That is the proper thing to do. We have solidarity with the people of Honduras, but they have to work to resolve their situation.

So you're just now going to try and offer them jobs? Where were those jobs yesterday? People don't uproot their entire families because there's jobs everywhere! So I find it hard to believe that there is jobs tomorrow. It says a lot about the poverty in these countries
-
That's true
